Do you guys remember going to the OEM Glass cook out Thursday before the show. I remember one year someone brought a 69 Camaro ZL-1 on a trailer that he was either delivering or trying to sell. Don't remember which..

Bill Stephenson was the guy I was thinking of. Gomer talked him down to half price for a T shirt for my wife.
Gomer passed away about 4-5 years ago from Diabetes complications. Quite the personality he was.

He was staying in a motel in Ft. Lauderdale with some other thugs. (you might have been one of them ) . A guy drove up in a new Mercedes. Got out and asked the valet to park his car. The valet's back was turned, Gomer jumped in the car and headed for the beach. Running parallel to the water, he got up some speed, cranked the steering wheel toward the water. opened the door and bailed out. The Mercedes became a submarine.
Now, that is the story as he related to me once. If he told the story again, it might have been a little different. But, he did sink a new Mercedes and laughed about it.
I have mentioned his name here on this forum a few times because he used to get around a LOT of expensive Corvettes, years back as you know. Jim Gessner is the only guy here that has ever acknowleged knowing his.name.
He allegedly buried a brand new '67 435 Vette, just off the truck at the VV Cooke dealership, on a farm in Kentucky someplace, according to him. He never told me where it was.

Your story is a little off. It was a stolen Mercedes!

BOB LOJEWSKI was a good friend. In 2009 his 63 Z0-6 Small tank car was in the BLOOMINGTON GOLD '' Grand Finale'' collection. It is a beautiful silver with saddle leather and only 5353 miles on the clock. He bought it at the BOB GOLD Auction in Jenkintown in 1970 if I remember correctly. Car had a little over 4000 miles in those days. Car has original dealer sales invoice. We lost Bob the following year. PICTURES TO FOLLOW.
He bought the Z06 in about 1975 from the original owner. He beat me to the car by a few days. The asking price in 1975 was around $5,500. In my opinion, that is the absolute best 63 Corvette on the planet.

Great pictures, midstyle.
I still think some some sort of auction could be a jolt that could spark some more interest at BG nowadays. Not a full blown Mecum TV production, but just a regular Corvette auction that fits the size of the show today.
