Default Met Tom Parsons AKA DZAuto

My brother and I met him at his home in Mustang, OK. on our Rt 66 trip from Chicago to Santa Monica. Spent about 3 hours there looking at his cars, parts and STUFF and he does have a lot! Great guy for those of you that have not met him.

We were driving my 65. I had planned to take the 57 but discovered worn A frame bushing when I went to get it aligned shortly before I was scheduled to take off from AZ. to Illinois and the parts did not arrive in time. We stopped in AZ. on the way back and switched to the 57. We then took the PCH north and are currently in Northern Cal. having a good time.

I suspect many of us feel we already know him even though we have not met him through his great posts about these old cars and the airplane restoration he has been involved in these many years. Glad you are driving your cars

Wow! I had no idea. I live within 25 miles of Mustang. Small world it is.

You are lucky to have him in your neighborhood. He really knows C1s. I would make it a point to get to know him, great guy.

Ha, me too ! I have got together with Tom a few times, usually on a Corvette Route 66 of cross-country Corvette caravan. That dude is a tire-frying peach !

Just made contact and he's a real gentleman. He's also a Fuel Injection Guru, who repairs these systems for at least one local corvette shop and individuals around the country. Looking forward to meeting him in person. He's got a 400 SB with fuel injection in his 56 and I'll bet it screams.

If I ever was in OK, I would go out of my way to visit Tom and Ray.

You can never be bored at Tom's place. Rode up from an NCRS event in Dallas to his place in his '56.

Now that you're officially retired feel free to swing by and class up the state with some Sweet Silver.

As Corvette folks breeze through The Heartland of Oklahoma during organized caravans or Route 66 cruises Tom Parsons and myself have been there to make their time spent here a memorable one. I hosted international Sting Ray gadabout and Forum member Jackfit a few years back during his tour of the fifty states and Tom hosted him the next evening. Tom and I both headed up to Tulsa early one weekend morning to drive back with a Corvette group that was driving Route 66 from Chicago to Santa Monica and at the driver's meeting the leader announced "There's nothing to see between Tulsa and Oklahoma City so we're getting on the turnpike." . That's when Tom and myself announced "You will probably see the best of Route 66 if you stick with us." About nine of those cars did and when they met up with the "turnpike rovers" in OKC those nine told them "This was the best part of this cruise ! Historical markers, twisty two-lane roads, town squares with courthouses !" Tom and I were heros that day. I hope that DZAUTO chimes in on this post, he probably has more like minded friends than he is aware.

OK, so what should I say.
By the way, JUST IN CASE any of you are in the OKC area tonight (starting now), every year we have a hotdog/hamburger cookout at our house (starting about 6pm tonight) for Independence Day. then about dark (about 9pm) we shoot lots of fireworks. Mustang, OK still allows fireworks, so if you're in the area come on by for a dog or burger and lots of good friends. We routinely have 30-50 folks show up.

Default Tom at Granbury, TX Oct 2017

Tom is really the old fashion ''CORVETTE ENTHUSIAST '' Hell anyone that owns a 57 loves the history. And he drives it and fixes it and writes stories about it.

Last summer, he and I were guests at Corvette friends in GRANBURY, TX on October 13-14, 2017 for the BRASSOS RIVER CORVETTE CLUB annual Corvette show downtown around the town square. Of course Tom drove the 56, little trailer and all, from Mustang, Oklahoma to Granbury. Here are a few photos of that event.

Tom's car and his trailer

Tom's 57 injection unit

With all the other solid axel 53-62 Corvettes at the show. Tom got distance award. It was a great show. I will return this year.. Remember, its ''THE PEOPLE '' !!

Mustang, Okla. is a great place, I spent much time there when we had our gas plant humming, hope it is still there.

I bought a new Corvette late last year and planned a winter road trip(to include a bucket list of locations) from Michigan to Key West to California. Part of that was to visit Oklahoma City Murrah Building Memorial and to eat at the Cattleman's Steakhouse. The plan was to depart from Plano, Texas after staying with relatives and to hit Oklahoma City and to maybe connect with Rayvaflav and DZ Auto on my journey west on a Route 66 jaunt to Winslow, Az. I had read earlier that Rayvaflav and DZAuto were very accommodating on CF members passing through on Rte.66. Unfortunately when I arrived in Texas, the weather was not the best and the forecast even worse. The day I left Plano the temp was just above freezing and Oklahoma City had a ice forecast, so I altered my route to Amarillo with a slightly better forecast. The purpose of my post is to confirm my desire to return and to hook up with Rayvaflav and DZAuto because of their great reputations on the Corvette Forum. I shall return.
