Input on New Intake Manifold
Evening folks. I have a 62 327/300hp Powerglide stock setup. I recently replaced my original 461 heads with a new set of Iron Eagle Dart heads. Once I got everything put back together I was having idle issues due to vacuum problems and looks like my stock 3799349 intake is warped so I am going to replace it. I am still using my original AFB 3310S four barrel carb. I would like to upgrade to a newer intake manifold but still use my existing AFB for now while having the option of changing to a newer carb in the future. Can anyone give me some input on what intake manifold they may have changed to that would still allow me to use my stock AFB carb. I would need to make sure I stay within the space requirements as I have a stock hood. Would anyone have the specs for the front and rear height for a 300hp 3799349 intake so I can compare when looking for a replacement. Would also need to have access to a vacuum port on the intake manifold as my current mount for my AFB has a vacuum stud mount. I appreciate any input. Thanks

Why not take your intake and have it machined flat

What performance gains do you expect to gain from these mods on a 300hp engine.
Those original 461x heads and stock 349 intake would serve you good after a routine valve job. The stock afb on that engine is hard to beat, you are going down the road of $$$ for very little gain. I respect the fact that you can do whatever you want with your car but at some point you may want reconsider.

Just a note the heads were replaced as both had cracks. One had a crack in the cooling jacket the other a crack in one of the exhaust ports. Thx.

I like this intake. Have used it a couple times and its cheap. Dont know if it will fit under hood...https://www.jegs.com/i/Edelbrock/350...hoCXncQAvD_BwE

Before you start swapping parts, take your intake to a local machine shop and confirm its warped, if it is, it may only be a small amount of material that's needs to be removed to provide a flat surface, if thicker gaskets are needed is simple to port match the gaskets , .

With 2 cracked cylinder heads and a warped intake it sounds like this engine was overheated a bunch of times.
I would source a correct replacement GM intake and go from there.

Used intake manifolds are fairly cheap and plentiful. But you need one that accommodates the type of choke your carb uses. I like the older Weiand 8004 which is low and has a platform for a divorced choke - if that's what you need? But you need to buy the 8004 used as it's no longer in production. And if you have a hot air choke there is no manifold port for that - it would have to connect to the exhaust manifold.
I'm sure there are others. Offenhouser is over looked alot but they still sell alot of "vintage" compatible parts.
Happy hunting.

I think this is what you are looking for...
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/c1-and-c2-corvettes/3808209-c3bx-intake-and-crank-case-vent-pictures-needed.html
You can do a search at the top of the page for Edelbrock C3BX intake.
You can get them cheap on Ebay. You may have to get a drop base air cleaner.

Well the lowest manifold availble new (for a GEN I sbc) is the Weiand single plane 7547-1:https://www.holley.com/products/inta...t/parts/7547-1
That should be nearly a 1/2" lower than the lowest dual planes.
But if you need a new dual plane the next lowest is the Weiand dual plane 8120WND: https://www.holley.com/products/inta.../parts/8120WND
The 8120 should be a 1/4" lower than the edelbrock performer 2101:http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive/...ormer-sb.shtml
Hope this can help.

the Edelbrock rpm airgap also requires modification to the crankcase breather in the lifter valley.

I have a '67 so my requirements were different, but the attached comparison of intake heights may be helpful.
may be helpful.
