Terrible news to report...
Very, very sorry to report that Joe Ciaravino, aka 65Tripleblack, an avid contributor to this forum, died in a car crash in his '65 Corvette on Saturday evening at the shore area in Central NJ. Joe lives in the same town and helped me out on a number of occasions with my own '65. He died just a few miles from my house and it's really devastating. There's not much in the report which was posted on the NJ Asbury Park Press, but it says he lost control and crashed into a tree.

For those that knew him or was helped by him over the years, I'm sure you too will feel a sense of loss. Stay safe out there.
Rick

I got a call from Joe’s sister this morning. I discussed what we wanted to do for Joe with the brick and she was very thankful for the gesture. I told her I would send her a picture of the brick after it’s done.
We talked about the accident for some time. There was no medical issue. Joe was stopped at a stoplight and accelarated from a stop very hard. He lost control of the car when it hit the curb and the car flipped over and came to rest against a tree. Witnesses said he was alive when they got to him but he passed very quick. She was thankful he didn’t suffer long.
I should start receiving checks today for the brick. I’ll start a new thread in a week or so re Joe’s Memorial Brick.

Tragic, I walked him through the rebuild of his differential a few years ago. We spoke a few times over the phone. Very sad to hear yet another person in the vette world I knew that passed away, more and more it seem. RIP

This is just terrible. We recently shared a long thread on all the perils of living in Florida, ribbing each other a lot. I hate hearing this. My thoughts are with his loved ones.

I feel like somebody just knocked the wind out of me. I can hardly believe this has happened. A bunch of us here have recently been helping Joe try to figure out a pulley alignment problem on his '65...throwing alternator belt at speed. From the day I joined this Forum, Joe has always been a voice of knowledge and reason...always willing to help a fellow Corvette devotee. Joe, you will be sorely missed, my friend. God speed and may our Lord comfort your family. Tragic!!
