Default Replacement 1964 hood release cable

My hood release cable broke at the barrel nut position, fortunately with the hood off. All I have found is the complete assembly and of course I have factory air so it is the more expensive item. Does anyone here know a source for a replacement cable and correct handle. Thank you in advance.

LICS, Zip, Paragon, and Corvette Central all should have what you need.

Larry:
Thank you for your response. I am finding the complete assembly. I may buy the non a/c and pull the cable out of it since I have the bracket.

The cable is longer on the A/C version.

Hi Dave, you can fix it. Depending on how much cable wire is left sticking out from cable case. I bought some same thickness wire as cable and used a double cable stop. Broken wire in one end, new 2 “ extension in other end, tighten set screws and your back in business. I will post pictures when I go out to car.

i did not have replace handle or original wire. You do not need a lot of old cable sticking out

I've seen that splice before - either at a marine supply store or perhaps on the McMasters web site....

Jack - I've learned to cut off those plastic zip tie ends as close to the little clamp as possible - those long ends can be unbelievably sharp sometimes. I've been working on a car and discovered blood running down my forearm and it was because one of those damn things had scraped me good...

Macmaster or if you look at RC Cars sites, they use double stops for drive shafts.
