Not known to most, even in Alaska back in the day we had some heavy duty motor heads running some fat equipment. Just not as many. I think the State population at the time was probably around 100,000. Wow! Unreal by today's standards.

Yes, I feel extremely lucky to be the present care taker of my car, for the next generation. Today, after the walk around for people in awe, the first question that follows is "how much"? It's kind of hard to put a money amount on something that's priceless to you. It's definatly not up for discussion if you don't know what your looking at. In the suite next to mine at work, a young Lawyer parks his new high end BMW electric car. I know from looking at it , it must be a 150,000 car. I haven't drove my '62 up to the office yet, but I can't wait too. In all it's fire breathing dragon V-8 gas Gusseling, triple black, loud old school 327 Chevy small block glory. No emission control window rattling pride of Chevy and GM. But...that's just me.

I remember one afternoon driving south down the Seward highway, enjoying the winding road, when about a half mile ahead of me a couple of C3s pulled onto the highway going south also. I sped up to caravan with them, but they just kept getting further and further away from me through the corners. I told myself right there that I gotta get a C3 someday. I sold the '61 to a friend, and ended up buying the '69 in Anchorage a couple months later. (The gas crunch was still going on, and guys were almost giving big blocks away at the time.)

My current car, in 1974 right after i brought it home.
$500 for the car, $150 for 307 motor, $75 for cast iron saginaw 4 speed and probably another $100 worth of parts. It came with all the original chrome and trim, shoved in the trunk.
The drive tunnel was mangled from where the PO also blew a front U joint, you could look down and watch the drive shaft spin, until i fixed the tunnel.

My 1962 (the best year) . It's the car I've wanted since I was 12. A friends brother had one and used to let me clean it before he went on dates. I think he gave me .25 but I would have paid him

2018 C1 of Year Finalist
Jan 1968. 19 years old. Visiting girlfriend during winter break. Paid $600 for car. Broken grill surround. Minor body damage but fixed. Pic taken in Wisconsin. Had to have the car jumped as it had been sitting for three days in -15 degree weather. Caked with salt. Drove it all year round.
