My first '62
Here's a picture of me in Anchorage Alaska in summer of 1975. Me in yellow shirt, my little brother and three friends. I found the car in the guy 2nd from left Uncle's back yard under a foot of snow completely frozen. Two days later in a puddle of water in a heated garage I paid 3500.00 for it. As you can see it held true to form for the day.

The things people did to Corvette’s back then. My first one was a custom 61 in 1971 but I only gave 900 bucks for it. $3500 was a big chunk of money in 75. Cool picture.

Even though it was only 12 years old at the time it was a hunk. As you can see someone have it the "california treatment with a ducktail and square rear lights. Jacked it up and put huge tires on it. Everyone loved it as it was the thing at a
the time. Supprisingly the damn thing would start in very cold weather and get me to school, and it was warm.

No sadly only two pics were taken of it. Both from this view, one with my Mom and me that passed a couple of years ago. I contacted the Alaska DMV to see if I could get the VIN. They sent me a form I haven't filled out yet. MAy be hard they said because Idont remember the plate number. I'm going to send it to them with all but the last five numbers to see if they can pull it up. Fond memories.

Everything was more money in Alaska just like Hawaii. I don't know how it got up there, I'm guessing maybe a service member brought it with him when stationed to Elemedorph AFB.

I popped the clutch one night on Northern Lights Blvd. and because of the jacked up angle, busted the drive shaft at the transmission. IT bounced off the pavement and busted through the trans tunnel into the passenger compartment. There the knuckle Rotated in the cabin until I could get it shut down. Back wheels were still rolling. MY date, quite the foxy babe, never would get in it again. CAn't say that I blame her.

Do you remember this dude that drove a 66 around that had "Catch me if you can" emblazoned on the back and had 427 Rat on the fender? The thing was fast as F. I don't think I ever saw the front end of that car.
