Original 1962 outside mirror
Does anyone have a photo of an original outside mirror for the 1962 corvette. I ordered a new one from one of the big vendors and the head mounts differently to the base than the one on the car now. The new mirror mounts to the base squarely in the middle of the the back of the mirror. The one on the car now, mounts offset. New one is cheaply stamped (my opinion) Y-50, whereas the one on the car has no stamp at all. New one is thinner profile (thickness) of the head and glass is held in differently (actually more securely). What is correct?

The original mirror, with the Y-50 marking pivoted in the middle. The 1963-1967 had the offset pivot. You may have the GM service part 3840784 mirror on the car. It was the service part for 1953-1967. It was serviced without a bowtie or Y-50 marking. Some used the retainer clip to hold the glass like the 67 no bowtie mirror. Most had a glued in glass until GM discontinued the part.
