Of course, this car WAS really a black/ black original, with real trim tag, but silver shows off the lines better...

just note if its not original black car and you still want black. there are many different shades of black that you might like better. black is not black

Hello,
My car has a red interior and will be primed in the Fall. My C2 Corvette is having a body off frame restoration & non-matching Resto-Mod, so I can pick any color.
I am undecided between the easy to keep clean Silver or the bright shiny hard to keep clean Tuxedo Black
For those of you with a black C2 Corvette paint job. Would you paint your car black again or choose to paint your car a different color this time????

Color is a matter of personal choice and I would never ask someone to make that choice on MY car.
I am the outsider on this opinion. Black C2s seem to loose their lines with the darker colors. It is always difficult to photograph a black car to see the lines as the black sucks up all of the light when photographing them.

Paint is about light and shadow. I think the body lines of a slab sided limo work well with black. The C2 body favors the lighter colors as darker colors mute the body lines and curves plus it minimizes the shadow effects. At certain angles with low light a black C2 can look like a black block. The owners who submitted photos of their cars are justified in being proud of their cars and obliviously prefer black. My opinion is paint it silver and to illustrate my point I will use Vettrocious photos as he posted the two different colors you are interested in and also stated that silver reveals the body lines better. I want to be clear I am not singling his cars out for criticism as both are beautiful examples and if you go with black I hope it turns out as nice as his 65 FI coupe which looks like the black paint is flawless and mirror finish quality. I wish we all could have such beautiful examples. My apologies to Vettrocious, again I am not trying to single Vettrocious or anyone else out. I only wanted to illustrate my opinion.
Black at this angle and low light hides the sexy lines of the body and mutes the side details
Even in shadow the body details can be made out clearly.

I have always thought a Tuxedo black paint job with a Semi-Gloss Hood graphics or stinger, or semi-gloss skunk stripe would be cool and give a Race attitude!
I talked to a Hot Rod guy about a base paint color like your Tuxedo Black but mix some pearl (black pearl or black cherry pearl) also into the base color, for a subtle ghost flaming!

I am an outsider but agree with 68Hemi.

A Corvette clothed is black is like a seductively clothed woman, where every hint of a hidden curve and nuance draws you in with the desire to look again, and again, with a growing appreciation as more detail emerges
( until your wife or girlfriend catches your gaze and smacks you back into reality )

2023 Restomod of the Year finalist
My Corvette came with a red interior when I bought the car 5 years ago. Painting it black I will do.
Now to decide....Do I want Clear Glass or Do I want Tinted Glass???

2023 Restomod of the Year finalist
[QUOTE=Dougs63;1597824310]I'm bringing this one back from near death. The classic "brought it home in boxes" story.
Why? Its an original black on red '63. And yes - it will go back to black when completed.
[/QU
Have you decided to paint your Corvette Tuxedo Black?

C1 of Year Finalist (performance mods) 2019
First of all I would never own another black Corvette, I don't think black looks good on them. If I had an original (TT coded) black Corvette I would sell it to someone that appreciates the color, They did not sell many of them (hence, not popular when new) and did not even offer it in some years.
You have a restomod so all of the typical Corvette "rules" go out the window plus it is YOUR car so do whatever you want with it.
