HA! I think everybody has that "one guy" on their ignore list -- heck, maybe the SAME guy!

I have had 28 Corvettes to date and everyone that wasn't bought new had a "history." My current Duntov looks really nice but it has had a tough life just like all of the others that I have owned. I'm sure there are unhit, pampered, pristine examples out there but they are few and far between. If it's an old Corvette it has had an interesting life, and not always in a good way.

I was owner # 10 when I bought my 64 in 74. My fiancé was # 11 to keep the insurance down. When we got married, I got it back and was # 12.
The guy that owned it before me bought it from a junkyard ( Camp Auto wreckers I believe ) without the engine.
But, only 1 owner since the about 78 now.

Not even...

When I traded a boat for my '64 back in 1984, after I got the car running well enough to take out at night, my wife and I were going to our first meeting of the Vette Set at Champion Chevrolet. A cop stopped us for a tail light that went out. He took our paperwork and went back to his car to run it.

No less than 20 minutes later he walks back to the car and said, "Did you know that this car has had over 20 owners just in the last two years???" "No, the prior owner told me that he had owned the car for the last couple years" I told him. He said to get the light fixed and let us go on our way, which was right across the street from where we were at that point.

Back then, the car lived life a 1/4 mile at a time..., maybe for pinks?

This actually makes perfect sense as I had the car shipped from Strathmore, which is just north of Bakersfield and home of the infamous Famoso drag strip where the pros used to practice before going to Pomona.

True, but you wouldn't know by looking at the C2 'for sale' ads. They are all matching numbers, original everything, no hit body, and only 50K miles.
This is what they probably looked like a few years ago.

Yes, I think they all reveal their secrets when you get into working on them. Not sure there really are any original equipment or condition cars out there, unless you personally bought it new.

Looks like the clips intended to hold the mouldings in place are either not there or not hooking them and they are either gluing them in place or expecting the sealer to set up to hold them. Unless it is glue they will be in for a surprise when they take the pressure off since that sealer is designed not to harden.
