Default What is the best antique car insurance? Who can you trust if a claim needs to be made

There are many antique car insurance companies from which to choose. Which antique car company can you trust if a claim needs to be made? Will they give you the agreed upon value of your car?
Any antique car insurance companies to stay away from????

Hagerty is good. Also insurance from Adam Boca at Corvette Museum. Everyone has a favorite, but the two I listed have very good track records.

Adam, at the Corvette museum, represents American Modern and has had my Corvettes and Model A for years.

I use American Modern and could not be happier, just had a car fire on my 62, within a week they sent a adjuster out to my house. We settled on a price, had a check in hand within another week.

Hands down - National Corvette Museum.

Read what my experience was with a large claim...

You'll hear a lot about coverage and what is allowed as far as pleasure driving - I know of no "unrestricted driving" classic car insurance policies. Some clam that until they check their policy clauses...

My car today!

Corvette Museum does not insure in North Carolina. The Museum had an insurance booth at Carlisle this year and I asked him why no insurance in NC. He said NC has a regulation that prohibits an insurance company from selling in the state unless they have an office in the state. I asked if there were any other states where they could not sell and he said Massachusetts and New York. He said that NY has a regulation that prevents a non profit organization from selling in NY.

One question to ask is whether they are able to do business where you live. I contacted Adam at NCM and found that due to some wacky NY State regulation , they are not allowed to do business here.

EDIT: Ya beat me to it! While I was typing, you were already posting.

Did American Modern give you 100% of the agreed car's value written on the insurance premium policy?? Was your car a total lost?

Switched from Hagerty to NCM and cut the cost in half. Luckily no claims with either.

Has anybody experienced a " Total Loss" and received 100% of agreed amount on insurance premium policy?

If it’s a total loss and you have a stated amount policy you will be paid the stated amount . (presuming you followed the policy terms.)

I know what you mean, but the correct statement is "If it’s a total loss and you have a agreed value policy you will be paid the agreed amount . (presuming you followed the policy terms.)"

Look - I prefer NCM but all of these companies survive on referrals and reputation......any of them that don't pay out for a legitimate claim according to the policy will take a big hit in their customer base... Word gets around fast.

And almost all of them are backed by the same underwriter; American Modern. NCM is and nearly all others..

I just switched (this past week), from Hagerty (28 years with them), to the NCM. Better coverage, $400/year savings. I'll save my opinions on Hagerty for another day.

Well, 30+ years ago my '63 coupe was stolen and State Farm treated me very well.

That’s good Jim. But the way they treated Florida homeowners during the 2004 hurricanes was deplorable. They’ll never see a dollar from me.

I'm sure it depends strongly on who's working on the day you file a claim. The claim adjuster who handled the loss of my '63 was stellar....

Too, homeowners insurance is handled distinctly from auto insurance. I had a claim against our homeowner's policy for which we went 'round and 'round for a few months. They were eventually reasonable and saw things my way.
