Aftermarket Plastic Fuel Filters
With the talk lately about using aftermarket fuel filters I thought I'd throw this out there.
My dad just picked up a car that had one of the see through plastic filters---was new. Long story short the gas (ohol?) dissolved the glue holding the paper element inside. Turned it into a thick snot that made it's way into the carb.
In all fairness it was mounted up on the engine . The heat might have added to the problem.
Don't know what brand it is----looks like all the ones you see where both ends (nipples) are plastic.
Anyhow just a heads up incase things start to run bad all of a sudden.

Never install those and remove them when I encounter 'em...

Yup, the ONLY filter you need is the bronze sintered filter in the carb inlet. Any rubber lines between the pump and the carb is generally a no-no, but if you must, use R9 high pressure fuel injection hose.
If you are paranoid, you can install a metal can filter between the tank and metal the fuel line along the frame.
