Need special valve covers
My 1964 has a small block 427 engine and power disc brakes. Big block engines with power brakes have an indent on the driver side valve cover for booster clearance. I need a set of tall, small block valve covers with the same indent. Not to be even more picky, but I’d prefer them in chrome or polished aluminum or even painted with no logos or any other milling. Just smooth and pretty! Any ideas?

Why do you need tall valve covers?

With careful choice of rocker arm nuts and valve cover gaskets, you can use stock valve covers, if that would be of interest. There is nothing inherent about roller rockers themselves which mandate tall valve covers.

I built a 421 for a friends 63 Implala SS. I figured since they had 409s and BBCs in these it would be no problem with a small block. We measured just to make sure before we ordered the VCs. I ran into the same thing as you. We went with a small diameter booster, double diaphragm.

Could you possibly add a spacer if you like the current covers? They come in various heights.

Well you can buy slanted tall sbc valve covers and tall sbc valve covers with slope at the ends but I doubt you can buy a tall sbc v/c notched like a BB v/c. I think you will be forced to have a tall aluminum v/c notched and repolished or have a bare steel tall v/c notched then add the grommet holes and oil deflectors inside then finally having them chromed.
Good luck.
Good luck.
Thanks for all the comments and ideas so far!

Call PML. That is where I got my taller Script Stingray covers from. I am very happy with them. www.yourcovers.com

The photo below shows how I installed roller rockers under stock valve covers on stock-height heads. The 2.25" dimension is for stock C2 valve covers. In this case I had to buy the shortest ARP studs I could find and the shortest Polylock nuts I could find, and then shorten them just bit more. However, if you have aftermarket heads, the rails that the valve covers sit on are likely to be 0.3" to 0.5" higher than stock. So, you can use off-the-shelf studs and Polylock nuts with no modifications at all.
