Soon this will be functional! The plenum is bonded in nicely and trimmed. I built a wooden plug to hold the fiberglass cloth in place on the front edge where I had to fill gaps. Tomorrow I’ll bond the two pieces together and fill and smooth the small gaps and voids. So far it’s going great!

Nice. Quick question. Are your rear fenders flares out just a hair or are your rims set in a little? Maybe it’s just the picture angle. The reason I ask is because talking with the painter today he said he could do about a 1” overall flare that looks good to help with wider tires.

My rims are set in a little. They are 15x6 and I plan on updating to 17x7 in the future to fill them out a bit more.

And she’s 99% done! I sanded and sanded and sanded and now I can’t use my thumb print to log on as the print no longer exists. I painted it with SEM flat trim before lunch and bolted the hood back on to the paint can finish drying. Tomorrow morning I’ll align the hood, check the clearance between the seal and hood, and install the air cleaner. I should be ready for C&C on Saturday.

Looks KILLER! I have a few questions about it now that its done. What's the distance from the air cleaner base from the underside of the hood? Basically looking to see what the stack height is. That chamber is a lot bigger than I thought it was, and I'm not sure I's have the room to duplicate this on my car. What intake are you using, and what motor mounts?

My engine is pretty tall. It’s a 520HP small block 427 with a Motown single plane manifold that is 5 5/8” tall and a Holley 770cfm 0-81770. I need a 1/2” spacer under the air cleaner base to raise it so that the entire seal presses against the hood plenum. Here’s is the manifold and specs.

https://www.speedwaymotors.com/World...fold,8599.html

Stock motor mounts. The gap between the plenum lip and the underside of the hood is 3 1/2” front and back and 3” left and right. The drop base is dropped about 2” as you can see in the picture below.

It’s actually just less than 2” as the mounting flange is below the high point shown by the tape measure.

All done, works great! The engine sounds awesome! Hard to believe it makes that much difference, but with the intake now facing the driver the sound is intoxicating. I’ll make a video this weekend. I’m also going to make a grill to keep small birds, rodents, and Ford Mustangs from getting sucked into the intake.

Very cool.

Needs a ball milled Header Power Bracket to complete the look.

lol, I’m actually trying to remove the billet bling and achieve a more old school look. My biggest challenge is the brake booster interferes with the driver side valve cover requiring a clearanced valve cover like the big block, but no one makes a small block version.

Great project, which I'd like to do on my '65. Is that plenum a kit you bought? I know they think originals are made of gold !

Unfortunately, all the pics are very blurry and fuzzy, so I can't see them clearly on my iPad. Even when I click on them to view closer, they appear to have the resolution digitally reduced.
Must have a setting wrong or something.
Anyone have an idea that might help me ?
Edit: viewed pics on my PC, but would still like to get my iPad correct.

I made a short video. If it would ever stop raining I could do a better job. If I really had my ***** together I would have done a before and after, but I’m not that fancy. I will say it sounds better, but then it could just be me wanting it to sound better!

Oh, I made a grill and then calculated that it would reduce air flow by about 30%, so it’s out.

Your bonding of the unit looks clean! How did you do it?
Adhesive? A single layer of glass? Etc?
