65 is my favorite as well but I'd be happy to own this one!

Thank God!! The thought of a fellow Floridian trying to circumvent a law, would be unthinkable...

I'm not sure about the 64s but the louvers in front of the rear tires are only on Tempests later on. If you look at the other 64 GTOs they don't have them either. One of my best friends bought a 66 tri power. He was putting Dakota Digital gages in it and called and asked what this switch was on the accelerator pedal. I said those are only installed on automatic cars are you sure this thing is a GTO? I said check the vin. Oops it is a copy. Nothing wrong with a copy as long as you pay copy price.

I'm a GTO guy too, as I own a 67 4 speed hardtop that I bought in 1973. I spend a bit too much time on the PY forums because of it. Having a restoration shop, I gravitate towards the Pontiac customers because I know the cars so well. Pictured is a 4 speed, tri-power "real" '64 GTO that we finished last year.

Lookie there ! 1965 In Bluemist Slate. I had the same car, all trim codes were correct(and a bit unusual). Black interior with a silver/light grey headliner and underneath the optional wire wheelcovers with spinners, steel wheels finished in a gold color. 4 speed, console, Rallye gauges, 4bbl with the unusual (and unattractive) California emissions air cleaner and that beautiful three spoke wood steering wheel. I liked the '65, one of the best but I simply didn't fit correctly. I did fit correctly in my tri-power '66 that I owned over 35 years ago, it's a grainy old photo but it seems like the accelerator kept hanging up on me. Yeah, that's it.

It's amazing how many Corvette guys are also into GTO's. In my case, at our winter home in Florida one of my fellow condo neighbors is really into them and has a '69 Judge back in his native Boston - so we go to all the car shows together while we're both in Florida (January through April), and down there, there's a car show almost every day somewhere. I've educated him about Corvettes, and he's educated me about GTO's. And you know what? Those guys are very nearly as crazy as WE are . . .

The GTO that I own was sold to me (in 1973) by a guy who had bought a yellow '72 Corvette. He was a family friend who bought the Goat when it was a year old. PHS has helped me with the rest of the history. Ironically, one year later my younger brother (by one year) bought his 67 GTO in 1974 from a guy who had just bought a 1970 Corvette. I guess that was a natural progression for some GTO owners, to buy a Vette. I have to wonder, just how many later wished they kept the GTO!

I traded my ‘65 Vette for a new Verdoro green (think that was what it was called) ‘68 GTO. I drove that goat for four months (driving it home from the dealer I knew I made a mistake) and traded it for my ‘66 Vette. I’ve now owned the Corvette for 50 years...it’s a lot more enjoyable to drive vs a GTO.

After looking at these beautiful GTO, it reminds me of my first 1966 GTO 2 Door, truly loved that car, loved driving it around the base, and turning heads.

Thanks for all the great GTO pictures, guys. The backs of them are pretty neat now that I can actually see them...

(Easy, now--just a little intra-GM rivalry meant in fun...)

Cheers,
Richard

Love the Judges! We have a 70 Judge RAIV. I've always had a soft spot for the 71 as well. I've always loved the looks on those. You have some beautiful cars!

Hi @hcallaway.

Really nice GTOs in your stable there. Would love to see them around Richmond! Cruise season is starting to wind down. Or, maybe PA? Read the Hot Rod article and noticed the PA Antique plates.
