NICE!!! I saw them on your car, & a couple of others, & started looking at them for my 67. I was trying to buy a set of PSE 15" rims from a member, but they got sold. So I started looking at others, that had the kidney bean look, & trying to decide about going to 17"... I didn't realize the Schott wheels were so pricey.
Did you do any modifications to suspension for the 18's to fit? And what size tires did you go with??

Thanks Dave

I wouldn't have these wheels if it weren't for my brother and yes they are a little pricey. I've helped my brother out several time lately, helping him move, doing a lot of carpenter work at his new house, things like that. He's got a 65 Corvette that he built and put theses same Schotts wheels on it. I had commented about how much I liked them. Last year for my birthday he bought me a set...Great Brother. The tires a Michelin 225/50/18 on the front and 235/55/18 rear. The front tires do rub when I turn sharp either way. I think if I had to do it over again I would probably go with 17 inch wheels. Or maybe 17 on front and 18 rear.

Here's a few pictures of my brother's car. He did all the work on it except the wiring and interior.

Wow, nice car Randy ('s brother)...... I spoke with Schott and they do not make that wheel in a 17", but they will custom make me a set.... for an additional 2k...... above the price of the 18"s.... Yowza.....

Cool thing about this build, is with 10" fronts and 11" rears, they should have a pretty deep set lip...

Challenge is now finding tires.... and making sure measurements are right...

Randy, whats the scoop with your brother's motor?

He started with a Chevy Crate 502/502. Changed the cam put Inglese Fuel Injection on top of a custom Hogan Hand made intake.

It made 587.4 Ft. Ib of Torque and 546.6 Horsepower.

I just got an email from Schott Wheels, they do make the Accelerator in 17x7, 17x8, & maybe a width or 2 more(on the web site). I was quoted $1130 (each) for 17x7, another $120 if you want the 3 bar spinner. They have 6-7 colors you can do the center in....

I like that one also, but Reno stated earlier that it is not his car and he doesn’t know the size.

I also like Brian Hobaugh’s killer red race car. I think all these flared Corvettes are growing on me!

I too like the Big flair look. If I had a non original carI I'd definitely go with Big flairs...they look bad ***.

Bad ***...... I did not see Reno's response. Any idea on wheel info for Hobaugh's car?

I love that he blacked out all the chrome, which is perfect on a red car, but I don't think blacking out all the chrome on the Black Car would look good.

btw, any idea on where he got that front spoiler?

18 x 12 with 315/30R18 Falken Azenis RT615K tires. Here’s a nice article on the car.

I know Tom, but the issue is I'm also having a hard time finding tires to fit 17" wheels.... Now admittedly I am looking for 315's-335's on the rear and 285's- 295's on the front, but choices are very very slim..... 18's will give more options, but I am concerned about the wheel looking too tall.....

Stock tires were 27 3/4" Dia on 15" rim, that makes for 6.37" sidewall.

See if you can find a 28.0-.3+ Dia 17" or 18" Tire that will fit inside wheel well. 28" - 17" = 11" / 2 = 5.5" tall sidewall. You've only lost .87" of side wall height. 28" - 18" = 10" / 2 = 5" side wall.

By the way, I made a mistake on wheel dia on below car. It 17" on front & 18" on rear. 28.3" dia tires on rear.

I agree with Member saying to go with 28" + dia tires on C2. lot choose to use on there Restomods same tire size as C6 on rear. C2's wheelwell was designed for 27 3/4 " tall tires. Leaves too much space in between body and tire too me at least as that in it's self makes tire sidewall look more skinny than what is is.

18" wheel, 28.3" dia tire.

C6 wheel and tire. 26.+" dia tire on 20" wheel compared to 20" wheel with 28.3' dia tire.

I gladly five up that 1.10" of wider foot print for taller side wall. You and others will see the taller side wall, a lot more than you and others will notice that 1.10" less tire patch width difference.

Now if you put a White, Red, Gold, Blue, etc stripe on Tire's side wall, those tends to make side wall look skinny 26" or 28" dia tire.

Hey poorHouse, interesting that I've been under the impression that the sweet spot was 26-26.3" in total height for a wheel tire combo....

Yea, checking a 205/75/15 is a 27" tall combo.... Hmmmmm

So, interestingly and I have not seen it discussed here yet, is that Hobaugh's car (and I have seen a few others) are running the same wheel tire combo front and rear.... Most resto mods and in fact, most cars today have offset as we know.

Clearly original cars from the 60' and 70's ran the same wheel tire combo but today most sport cars do not.

I can see some reason for it, being the C2 is front heavy and under-steers, so increasing the front tire size make some sense.

But, overall, what does the board think about the aesthetics of such a large wheel tire combo on the front?

Andy, I think it depends on your intended use. Personally, I like the same size front and rear on a C2, but my 1975 Porsche uses 9x17 and 11x17 and on a streetrod the different size front and rear are a huge part of the look. Here’s a couple of pics to use in comparison to Brian’s car which I think looks fantastic.

1941 *****’s with 11x15 rear and 5x15 front. By the way, this is an Outlaw Performance body that is not painted, I simply polished the gel coat.

1975 911 with 9x17 front and 11x17 rear Nitto 245/45-17 front and 315/35-17 rear. I did roll the fender lips for clearance.
