I won’t forget 2003 Corvettes at Carisle had I think 53 1953 cars on display.

I saw him drive in, he was accompanied by another silver Mercedes, around the same year.

How about at Cars and Croissants which is based out of north west New Jersey there has been a red Vector, probably the same 300SL that was mentioned above, a La Ferrari, a F40, a Bugatti Veron, and today a red Dino and there used to be a red Enzo that attended on a regular basis. There have been others also including an experimental Chrysler show car from the late 50s.

Blue is a 1988 King of the Hill/Prototype ZR-1, purple is 1989 ZR-1 pilot line ZR-1. they built 25 of the 88s which were all destroyed but this one which is on display at Rogers Corvette Center in Orlando. Both are in private hands.

I looked into this and it looks like the only 67 Chevrolet body style that would have the unique hood was an Impala SS with a 427 engine.

Twenty some years ago a neighbor had a black on black 68 427 Impala with the Caprice roof line. It was parked deep into his back yard for many years, and the engine was complete right down to the Tonowanda built decals on the old chrome valve covers. The special 427 hood had serious rot around the edges. It was a complete car that I passed on for 3 grand.

To the OP, tomorrow I will post pictures of a 67 4 speed 427 Impala that I have in my shop. Turquoise with white interior, rally's and red lines. It's a knock out.

About 5 years ago a guy asked me if I would be interested in buying a '67 SS427 Impala convertible. It had belonged to his daughte-in-laws father. The car had been stored for nearly 30 years and no longer had it's original engine. However it was red on red, 4 speed, and complete including the hood.. I'm still kicking my self I didn't go look when I had a chance. I told a friend about it and he said he would buy it immediately. We called and it had already sold.

That's correct. When I was at Chevrolet Engineering in 1966, Chassis Engineering ordered a '67 Impala SS 427 for evaluation, and I "tagged" it for purchase the day it came off the truck from Flint Assembly. It was apparently the only SS 427 built with an L-72 and 4-speed, and required a special order to get through the system. Photo below is the tag that I took off the left front fender reinforcement before I sold it in 1968. Sure wish I still had that car today!

I had a neighbor that had one back, circa 1974. his car had a hood with some fancy (stock) chrome gizmos sorta like '66 Chevrolet 396 cars had but different, and fake (stock) fender vents behind the front tires.

Thanks John. I now remember that you had one of these cars. I think you posted this info here a while back.

Interesting that it was an L72 425 HP. Quite rare.

My 66 Caprice with a solid lifter 425 HP 427 4 speed. The engines in these cars were identical to a Corvette 425 HP. They even use the Corvette style exhaust manifolds and aluminum intake. I don't remember how many 425 HP cars were produced but probably not many. Fun car that I never should have sold. The car came from Georgia decades ago. Probably a rum runner. LOL

1956 New York International Automobile Show Standwagen (display car). I've been its steward since 1971. This is a picture taken yesterday (11/04/10) with some of the beautiful autumnal foliage on Long Island's East End.

Remembered that someone might like a picture of the engine as well. Special engine with hi-lift camshaft, dual point, single coil ignition, etc. 3.42:1 rear end. It is very strong.

In 1980 I found n bought a 1-owner 68 Camaro RS SS 396 350hp 4spd convertible

I've seen most rare cars in museums n shows. So I'll post this-I've never seen another.
