Are the pressure plate and disc correctly manufactured? Does your pressure plate have raised curved fingers or flat where the release bearing contacts it? Can you post pics of your other clutch parts? It may help.

Just trying to help.
Tom
My set-up is all plain standard GM parts. The engine is a new standard Goodwrench crate that came with the flywheel mounted. The bell housing is GM OEM, the ball stud has the correct height. The clutch/pressure plate are standard . The bearing is standard. Remains the fork itself, which I took from the car when bought. I found it to be curved upwards, not sure this is as original. Will see when the new fork comes in somewhere next week. Will report back

John Z, I've read so many insightful articles written by you. Can you please give us all a little history of who you are, some of your past experiences? I'm sure it would prove to be some good reading ! Thx, Sully

Sully -

In a nutshell, BSME '62 and MBA '64 from Michigan State, Army helicopter instructor pilot, GM 1964-1985 (Chevrolet and GMAD Product and Production Engineering, including 2 years in the Corvette Group), head-huntered out of there by Chrysler in 1985 when Roger Smith's reorganization nearly crippled GM, 17 years at Chrysler as a Chief Engineer, Director of Manufacturing Engineering, and six years as the Viper Plant Manager. Retired in 2001 at 60, was very active in NCRS (Master Judge, Chairman, Michigan Chapter 2001-2006) until my health took a tumble in 2016. Sold my cars and now leaning back on my long-time secondary hobby (guns and gunsmithing), which better suits my current physical capabilities.

new fork came in this morning. Is 100% identical to the old one I took out, except that the ball spring is MUCH firmer and the indent where the ball goes is more pronounced on the edges. Will take a while to get the car up and running again, cause in the meantime I am transforming to a removable cross member.
