Default One man brake bleeding

Well the 63 starting pulling hard to the right on heavy braking (its all original drums).....leaky wheel cylinder. So, I got front hoses, wheel cylinders and shoes from NAPA yesterday and got the front axle re-assembled with the new parts (the rear was done two months back along with trailing arm rebuild). This morning I did a one-man brake bleed (a job I hate)..... Pumping the brakes and then running out of the car to see if there were bubbles in the clear hose I use for bleeding and how high the fluid was getting in the catch container....

On a whim I got out my Aardvark gooseneck/smart phone inspection camera and laid it on the garage floor with the gooseneck bent up high (sorta like a Cobra rearing up) with the camera head aimed at the bleeding kit on each wheel and video running...

This allowed me to sit in the driver's seat with my iPhone and watch the process remotely at each wheel while working the brake. Worked like a champ.....I was done in 20 minutes. I don't know why I didn't think of it before (Ugh!)

Just a thought if any of you have one of those cameras...they are on sale at some places for less than $65 with tons of household uses...

All you needed to do was to cap the line going in to the wheel cylinder, Change it out and hook the line back up. Then, gravity bleed the cylinder only.

No need for a lot of drama.

Or I could just have run with the pulling brakes and avoided the drama - sorta like skipping a gear because your transmission grinds....

That's very millennial of you Frankie. Actually, I wish I had a little more techno savvy like that running through my brain cells.

Nah, when I hear noises I usually just turn up the radio.

Nice use of technology, plus that camera has lots of Corvette uses. Thanks!

And you can do a self-exam to see if your prostate is enlarged.

That is one use that absolutely never crossed my mind.

I have similar but self contained gizmo i got from harbor freight. Surprisingly, it works fairly well and hasn't broken yet. I have found several uses for it auto and home related. It does have built in light so i suppose you could use it for your application also.

Motive Power Bleeder is far easier and you are right at the hub to see what's going on.

Get yourself a set of one way bleeder screws and do it all from the front seat!

They are nice - used them in my 61. Didn’t have time to get them online. None of the local FLAPS had them here.

My one-man brake bleeding system involves my wife working the brake pedal. LOL.

I don’t have a camera like that but you’ve given me an idea. I just got a small security camera that transmits live to my iPhone. I could probably use that instead.

Pretty cool Frankie!
My nephew came over last weekend to look at something on my car and put his phone on it and turned his phone into a magnifying glass-I thought that was cool also.

Another vote for the Motive Power pressure bleeder. Pump it up to 15 - 20psi and then take your time going to each wheel cylinder to bleed. I have used the Speedbleeders in the past but difficult to know if you got all the air out. Used the pressure bleeder and had the best brake pedal feel that I have ever had in the car.

Seems like there is just a wee bit of difference between brakes pulling to one side as opposed to a weak synchro...
One is a serious safety problem; the other can be safely managed.
