Default steering linkage question(s)

I've been pounding on my steering linkage ball stud with a ball joint separator for a while now. Can't get it to budge. Bigger hammer or am I missing something. Nothing in the service manual or assembly manual that I can find. Other question is... I'd like to rebuild the linkage only replacing the boots (maybe other damaged parts). Doable?

Here's the documentation that I've been using.

I prefer to use a two finger tie rod separator rather than beat on things. Tighten it down and then rap on the adjusting nut with a hammer, tighten it more, until it finally pops loose.

I too feel better. Had a feeling it wasn't just me. THANKS GJM!

What I don't feel good about is the search function in CF. I "advanced" searched for all kinds of steering linkage plus keywords, tags, specific and non-specific forums, etc. Either no results or too many results. Never bumped into the "Steering linkage removal GRRRR!" I may not know very much about steering linkage, but, I do know CF needs help with their search indexing, sorting, and general SEO. I'm 99.9% sure it's time for CF to upgrade to a 21st century search engine.

Often times I get better results using Google for my search. It will reference Forum answers to questions. Dave

Yea. Pretty standard for most IT orgs; "why should we rewrite our search when Google will index everything for free".

Yep. 20 minute drive to harbor freight, 5 minutes to pop the joint. Thank you so much!
