66 big block 425hp
I have a oil leak that drips off of the starter, I pulled the starter off and the bolt closest to the block was soaked with oil, does anyone know if that bolt is open to the inside of the block and causing oil to run down the threads and onto the starter and then drip onto the ground. When I reinstalled the starter I used a permatex thread sealer on both the starter bolts so hopefully that will solve the leak.
Thanks D Sperle

I would look the valve covers first, they are known to leak and drip oil down and drive you crazy

Those bolts do not go to oil. It would be best to not use anything on threads.....they help provide a ground for it electrically...but as long as it's tight against block it will be OK.
That oil is coming from above....intake, valve covers etc.

well don't know what to say, but since I used the thread sealer on the 2 starter bolts I have driven the car close to 200 hundred miles on 5 different
occasions and guess what, it's dry as a bone, 0 leaks, my starter bolts must go to oil, because that's all I did and starter is dry no leaks, who knows how
thinks were machined in the 60s or how consistent the quality was back then.
