The records are not locked away in Al Capone's vault, and we really did land men on the moon.

GMs market cap it about $54B US. They could not care less about 50 year old C2 Corvettes.

He said that even tho we only had to keep them 90 days, if we gave him something older than that he could look at it, and if he found a deficiency back then he could write us up, or even recommend a fine. He said "Now I'm going to visit the rest room, and when I come back I'll need to see your records." When he came back, he had exactly the amount of records we were required to have sitting on the desk, nothing more. He smiled and nodded approval.

As for Corvette records in particular, it's hard for some folks today to realize that back then these were just cars. Yes they had a following, but nobody dreamed there would be the interest and demand for all the tiny details which we have today. GM made them, sold them, cashed the check and moved on.

That's a great story!

I know many do not read the entire thread on any particular subject. However if you look at my post number 37 you will see that I am satisfied per the info in that post.

I can't believe that any allegedly rational adult who understands how a large business operates really believes this conspiracy theory crap in this day and age - I know Art very well (and the other execs who were also tapped by Chevrolet top management as the team to "go find the records"). I wasn't directly involved, but I know virtually everyone who was, and nobody found squat, especially in the Pennsylvania salt mine storage locations. I refuse to comment further on this ludicrous conspiracy theory.

How many of you are familiar with The Marti Report? The link below will tell you about it.

https://www.martiauto.com/martireports.cfm
Being a long time Mustang and and Corvette guy (the horror ) , you may be surprised to know that the Mustang Marti reports are only for '67 Mustangs and newer, same reason as GM US, are you ready for it, records were destroyed for the '65-'66 model years.

As for GM Canada, the records are for new GM cars sold in Canada, but the information on options is limited prior to '65, as seen below.
Still great info, but the records don't exist for the rest. GM Canada is a separate corporation from GM USA, they have their own policies regarding record retention etc.
