Backup light wiring
Where is the wire routing for the backup light switch in a 65 coupe? My car was originally optioned with backup lights but the shifter was converted to a Hurst long before I bought the car and I never noticed any wires in the vicinity of the shifter.
I'd like to reconnect the lights to my RS600 which has a built in reverse switch but have no idea what the wire routing should be.
TIA

The missing original switch has a long wire pair running to a connector at the top of the firewall, between the master cyl and wiper motor. That connector should still be there for you. BTW the original switch works with a Hurst shifter. .

The pink and green wires in this connector go to the b/u switch (the wires going down) and the wires going up go to 12v supply (pink) and to the b/u lights (green). If you short the pink and green wires going up in the picture together with the ignition on, the b/u lights should come on. That's what the b/u switch does, short those two together.

Sorry, had other tasks to complete first. Mostly I need to get up to Ecklers to pick up some clear lenses and then get under the back end of the car to fetch the original sockets and insert them into my middle buckets.
But I did find a two conductor connector tucked up under the windshield wiper motor but am puzzled that the wire colors don't match what others have indicated they should be. Once i find the bulb housings in back I can do a continuity check to see what's what. but I also haven't pulled out my service manual to check the wiring diagram either, should probably do that first.

. Black with pink stripe equals pink, black with green stripe equals green.
