Default spare tire carrier lock boot

Is there a trick to putting the boot onto the lock? Do you have to cut the boot? It doesn't look like the boot will stretch enough to put it on.

It will go. It's very tight. I used two screwdrivers to stretch it wide enough to get it over. I removed one thinking it had to come off to unlock the lock, before I noticed that the key would slide up into the slot with the boot already on it. It was a chore getting it back on.

You might try warming up with a hair dryer or heat gun so it will stretch easier

Warm it up. Stretch it to much and it might tear. It’s thin.
