I wish the original interior was still installed and the original engine and the original exterior paint (at least the correct color). I wish it had the original shifter and that the headliner wasn’t falling down and the interior far past patina and into disrepair. I wish it hadn’t been hit in the back, the rear valance cracked and the back end poorly repaired. I wish the paint on the hood wasn’t bubbling and lifting in spots and that holes weren’t drilled in the hood for water drainage. I wish the brakes, suspension and steering had been maintained so it was safe to drive over 50 mph. I actually wish it was all original as I wouldn’t have bought it as it was loved and maintained and a valuable original, but it’s not. Now it will be saved, perhaps not as many would like, but it will live and thrive and conquer local roads. It will be driven like it was meant to be driven and I think it will be happy.

Good question! This style of flare allows the wheel to sit a bit higher in the wheel well, so it will be lowered 2” via Ridetech coilovers all around, C3 spindles/hubs up front with Global West control arms, Ridetech trailing arms in the rear and wilwood 14” discs all around. I hope to get 20x12 w/5” BS wheels with 325/30-20 tires which are 27.7” in diameter. It is important to fill the wheel wells and have significant dish to achieve the look I’m after. Everyone said I couldn’t put 245/45-17 tires on all four corners of my 1964 convertible, but I did with no issues. I will need to measure carefully before I finalize the wheels.
However, because it will look like a clown car, I will only be able to drive it at night! Kind of like Andy’s black car “Shinola” which cannot leave the garage as people may mistake it for the...um...other stuff. Some people can’t tell the difference.
Thats an interesting mix of parts, especially in the front. I looked at the RideTech "kit" and one of the deciding factors for me was that their front kit used FBody spindles, and finding calipers that would mount to an FBody spindle but have similar piston area to the factory C2/3 calipers for my manual brake system was near impossible. I was unaware that you could purchase the coil overs from Ride Tech as individual units. As I'm sure you're aware, Global West has two different lower control arms....one for coil overs and one for normal coil springs. I went with the regular coil springs, and given what a pain in the *** it was to get them back in, I would definitely go coil overs just for the ease of packaging and installation.
The rear end set up from Ride Tech also looks nice. In the end I decided it was more than I needed given the fact that I was sticking with the 15" wheel and tire combo. I think the Global West trailing arms along with their strut rods and the C3 bracket will make a nice improvement on mine. With your level of horse power and grip, the Ride Tech stuff will probably get you where you want to be.

ST, those look like Jeff’s flares which are what I have. They look much better all one color.

Ok it's a NOM, no longer the original color, and been hit in the rear. Yes a 365 black and silver makes for a great looking '64 coupe but this car is a long way from that. We all only take this ride through life once. If that's your vision build it. I think your biggest challenge will be getting the wheel/tire combination located in exactly the position you want inside the wheel opening.

Why not just flush about $30,000 down the toilet, and send the car off to the crusher. A lot less time and trouble wasted that way.

Correct, every car that isn't restored to showroom new condition is a complete waste of time and money....I'll happily take her off your hands at no cost, thus saving you untold hours on your life and $30,000.

Mark, what 20" wheel are you looking at? I thought I as going big with 18"s.... But I agree, I am concerned that unless I find a 27-28" wheel tire combo the flares will look too "gappy' in my car too........ I've got the Red Car on the lift, suspension off for the swap to SharkBite, trying to get the PS and PB's in, so working on the black car is a couple weeks out

Mark, when you say 427SBC, are you looking a an LS motor, or keeping it old school?

I'm not sure what the "box" is, except it was in the box with the rest of the ps stuff.... Guessing it is stock and I'm hopeful its no sloppy....

As to selling this car, I explained this before but I will again once more. It is rust free, but far from original and tired in almost every way. It needs a new rear crossmember from a previous accident and has many stress cracks and worn out components. While it was a 365HP car in a desirable exterior and interior finish, it now has the wrong engine, wrong exterior paint (completed without disassembly) and wrong interior. Compounding that is that everything that should be replaced underneath wasn’t. A perfect candidate for this project. Thanks for your comment.

I can understand the problems with ever returning it to its' original state, and can see why you want to do what you are planning, good luck! This one is not in the list I have seen of black/silver cars, so good to know an undocumented ones has been found.
