Where are these primary buss fuses and where can I buy circuit breaker fuses to replace them?

Sometimes they come inside the pack of fuses. Sounds like you may be needing more fuses before you've sorted this problem anyway.

There's another fuse for instrument lights, (marked "panel" or "inst) it would kill all your dash back lights. It is usually 4a Another possibility if all your dash lights are out, the tail lamp fuse will also kill all your dash backlights. (marked "tail) They are the next two fuses above the one you changed. Both those fuses must be good to get dash lights. I find it easier to reach by kneeling as we said and go in head first facing down and rotate your upper body slightly clockwise. I don't do well working upside down.

This really sounds like an old geezer problem to me.

I don't recall any problem changing fuses in C1/C2/C3 cars when i was 18-20 years old.

You can buy a fuse puller at any FLAPS store. Make sure you get one for round fuses and not blade fuses.

PS. If you use a meter or test lamp on the fuse clips to see if you have voltage on both sides with the park or headlights on, you can save pulling and reinserting a fuse that is good. The reason I said on the clips is the fuse may be good, but corroded around the end and not making contact with the clip that holds it. All four of the fuse clips on the two fuses I mentioned above should have 12v with the lights on.

Isn't it always a good time trying to get to anything under both a C1 and a C2?

It does help to take the seats out and lay upside down in the floor area. LOL!

Pat's got it right for anyone bigger than a girl. Two bolts if I remember right.....and out it comes. Any work under the dash for that matter. I actually fell asleep under there redoing the dash on my 66!!

If you remove the seat and the steering wheel, not only can you achieve easy access to the fuse block and everything else under the dash, you have room to throw a party for half a dozen of your closest friends. You really do get a lot of working space.

As as far as falling asleep under there, that’s always a possibility for me. So is being being able to get out of there. My wife has a strict rule. If I’m going to be working under the dash or under the car, I must have my cell phone with me.

Taking out the seat and wheel sounds like a lot of work to change a fuse, but sometime you gotta do what you gotta do. My '72 is a seat removal type car for about everything under the dash, but i am going to blame it on the design rather than my age.

Its better than getting trapped inside the car, upside down.

My C3s have been easiest by removing seat. Lying on back or standing on head are almost a necessity as my old spine/neck doesn’t rotate or twist any more

All of us old geezers on here are really pathetic (and I’m including myself in that). But you have to give us credit for hanging in there and fighting the ravages of old age. One way or the other, we figure out how to get ‘er done.

Bullsh!t. I am 56 and I am in awe of what you all get done. I work ~60+ hours a week behind a computer, and then ache and moan getting up and down off the garage floor on the weekend. I only hope to get as much done as you self-proclaimed geezers.

and just wait if someday you also need glasses, WITH bi-focals in them; talk about a tough time even seeing the fuse you want to pull.

I've also discovered that the more stuff I remove in order to fix something, the more likely I'll damage something else in the process AND discover something else that needs fixing. And the bigger the thing you remove, such as a seat or an engine, the VERY MUCH more likely I'll damage something else and 100% sure to find many things that need fixing.

I have buddy that started turning wrenches as a kid. Work in “ filling station”, then a Ford dealership, then a 30 year Naval jet mechanic, etc. We sometime “tag team” jobs. Recently changed a starter on one of my Vette. One would be on the creeper, the other would get wrenches, etc. Then guy on creeper would get a cramp and we would change places. Etc., etc... Took us a while but we finally got ‘er done. Then kick back, have an adult beverage, rest, shoot the bull.
