easier for me to read the amperage (im old) and the blade fuses are more readily available , If someone made a fuse block with blade fuses that was a direct replacement id by that , thats why

Im not having any issues that i know of as of yet , i am replacing my wiring harness (dash) which includes the fuse block, I prefer the blade type fuses because like i said i am old and have trouble reading the faintly stamped amperage on the glass fuses.That being said the blade type fuses are easily read and i want them in my car, if there were a replacement fuse block that would accept the plugs through the firewall i would happily convert it with that. however i havent been able to find that particular fuse block, so thats why i am looking for the adaptors. In the event that i do blow a fuse i feel that the blades would be easier (for me ) to replace. Ok ? Now all that being said , would you happen to know where said adaptors can be purchased inexpensively?

the GM engineers though of your bad eyes 70 years ago by having different color stripe put on each fuse to tell each one apart. just saying. both style fuse work as designed. I will not argue that. both style fuses are available everywhere auto parts can be bought. install the right one the first time and forget about it.

Thats exactly what i plan on doing when i install the new dash harness/fuse block with the aforementioned adaptors. Any idea where those adaptors can be purchased inexpensively ?

nope never herd of them until now. the glass fuses haven't broke since my car was built 50+ years ago. so don't plain on fixing them

Actually, in a pinch, I've used something similar to those adapters in a fuse holder whose "fingers" were weak from years of abuse and making a poor connection. The devices seem to have fatter end caps and sit in the holder more securely in these cases.

easier to pull a blade fuse, also you can buy blade fuses that light up when they blow, nice when hunting for the blown fuse under a dark dash.

You can even install circuit breakers in the glass fuse block, if they serve your purpose; if nothing else they help when troubleshooting a shorted circuit - that keeps blowing fuses like mad:

Funny that the breakers are cheaper than the adaptors .

I don't know about easier. When you pull a blade fuse out of one of these adapters, the other part will come with it, and you're back to installing in the round part in the clips. I guess it does give you a little handle to hold on to. I also do not care for the light up fuses, I've had some bad experience with them. All this "upgrading" does for me is cost more money than just changing the old fuse. It's been said many times already, but if you have a problem with blowing fuses, the fuses are not the problem. They are performing as designed.

Right , like ive said maybe twice now , not having any problems , im looking for the adaptors , thats all, just looking for a source for the adaptors ,Now would you happen to know where they can be purchased inexpensively ? and your probably right the whole thing may pull out , but im thinking it would in fact be easier to replace thank you for your help

No, I don't know where you can buy them inexpensively. Jegs advertises them for around $5 each If you have corroded clips, they will need to be cleaned up just like with a glass fuse to use these. I'm sure Google will find you other sources.

I saw them at jegs , kinda pricey , im installing a new fuse block so no corrosion issues , thanks for the help

The photo uploader ate my text again. The photo in the post above is a typical pre-90's Ferrari fuse - a ceramic block with an alloy strip with a pointed cap on each end. Same basic principle as a glass fuse, but without the glass covering.
