26k does not seem like a bad price for a car with a solid birdcage. If you are able to track down the original engine, you may have done very well. Even as a candidate for a restomod $26,000 makes sense.

Congrats on the 'new' '64. It's always great to see another '64 come out from under the radar. Have fun bringing her back to life.

Good for you! Who gives a rat's behind how much money you paid for it. Better in that car than sitting in the bank waiting to be passed on.
Plus the car will more than likely be brought back to life under your care, rather than sitting in your buddies garage wasting away.
That looks like a great project for you. Do you know if the wheels are originals?

Come on man....not cool to rain on the guy's parade.
Although I do agree about the buddy part. That's always been a problem for me. I just will not make money off of friends. I've sold many an item to friends knowing that I could make a heck of a lot more selling on a website.

If the KOs are real originals your buddy paid a bargain price especially if there are 5 (one in the spare). Is that what you have?
Your buddy could have got the selling price else where and he wasn't looking to sell so you did ok. It's nice to see someone buy a car for love of the car rather than on price considerations.
Any chance the engine can be tracked down that the previous shop removed?
I know buying and selling between friends can some times be awkward. In this case particularly since your advise may have been the motivation he needed to take the leap.I also know for a fact 65hihp is just jealous.

Silver Flare looks great in my opinion. I like Blade Silver, but I think Silver Flare will be a nice change. Red Mist seems to have orange in it.That might be a nice addition also.
