Actually, if transparency is the target, they should publish which cars were called for reproduction trim tags, VIN tags, and engines......

I agree with Mikelj above. At least share it with those who pay their dues and are members in good standing. Seems to me that should be a perk of membership.

First a lot of the reason for the harsh penalty is a safety issue. Some cars are done being judged way before others there are people judges on the floor & parts in the isle way. Also since most venues are indoors the building owner usually will NOT let the cars start in the building. Last but not least some cars are done being judged Friday & others on Saturday so to be fair no one leaves till all cars are judged & isle ways cleared and pushers are there to move them out.

This may not be the place to ask but several NCRS members and judges frequent here. Can a car be entered in the PV test and flight judging at the same event? PV's are always the first day with the car sitting with the Flight cars for the duration whether they passed or not. Looks like extra revenue for the event if they could "dual enroll".

No. PV is stressful enough by itself. They call it the test that makes grown men cry.

Frankly speaking, it sounds like someone is still suffering from NCRS judging PTSD. To steal a line from Animal House - “I suggest you start drinking heavily!”

The bright side is that they now have 13 months to fix the issues.

For any fellow non-NCRS types, PV="Performance Verification". I had to google it.
Threads like this remind me that while I'm grateful that the NCRS exists, it's not for me!

It always reminds me of what Roseanne Roseannadanna used to say:

I know. I went thru it with a 67 400 hp a/c coupe with 13 options and got it on the first try. Gonna try again in April with this 67. Most guys are totally unprepared for the stress and complexity of the test. You'd better have a good car and not overlook any detail.

I think the NCRS PV is a good idea. I prepared a few cars for this over the years and they sailed right through without issue.

As Harry Truman once said: "If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen". I suspect that most people who enter NCRS judging are aware of what they are getting involved with. No tears for anyone who voluntarily decides to set himself on fire.....

I'm with you buddy, no PV for me, either. Life is too stressful as is, without adding that.......

It takes good preparation, AND good luck. Those with both usually pass. I've never been lucky.

Same here,I sold a Duntov car, and a nice driver and it made very little difference on the price, (not enough to cover chasing the awards) . But I can tell you that most people are dreaming when they price out there clean driver C2 cars. Been there done that. I'll take a Restomod before a Duntov car every time. I will admit it was nice to have for comparison purposes, like a giant assembly manual. Just my experience, others live for it. Ron B.

Preparing a car for PV always makes it a better driver, and more reliable. And it makes the owner much more knowledgeable about how the car operates too.

Being mechanically proficient, I perform my own PV's on all of my older classics in the comfort of my own shop. And then I go out and drive the cars. Not to judged events or shows, but to places of interest that I want to go to....like the mountains or the seashore. Good running cars, no stress, great driving experiences, and great destinations. Win-win! None of my cars will win any trophies, but then again, I use them as....cars.
