Great fun to read this Thread. I'm from Valley Stream and had no idea that you guys are from my area. I'm still friends with Ronnie and Bobby Schnieder from the Schnieders Garage! Lots of street racing back in the day! I had a friend named Bob Becker who had a 56 Biscayne/265 that was de-stroked and could turn 8 Grand! Anybody remember him? Al W.

So you guys are familiar with the racing at Connecting Highways off the BQE, and of course the Friday night drags on the Conduit off the Belt Pkwy near the (Kennedy) Airport Diner.
What about George? You out there?

Jack Merkel recently passed away, his son is running the shop in Hauppauge, Speedwin is gone - was on Motor Av, Hauppauge.
Stop 20 Diner is still there.
The area has changed a lot. I still have family in Floral Park, which has held up well. Some of the other areas mentioned have not done as well. The traffic is super heavy and a lot of the shops and stores we knew are long gone. Franklin Hobby was one that is long gone....
The Plattduetsche Park Restaurant is still there and is always packed.
I had a 67 red Firebird 400 back then. Then started hanging out at Burger King in Bethpage, with fun on 109 and New Highway.
