Some of you guys might like this. This is a restored, correct car. I'm no expert on racing or racing these things. But it was a cool car. Talking to the owner was interesting.

This was Bill Jobe's original 64 street car that he turned into his SCCA race car. He went to the SCCA BP Run-Offs I believe 2x in 71 and 72 with this car and did relatively well. He then sold this car and bought Allen Barker's 2x SCCA BP National Championship winning car and then proceed to win the next two BP National Championships with the 68 Corvette.
The car was raced for most of the 70-80s and was then traded into a new car dealer in Norman, OK on a used C5 Corvette. We bought it from that dealer and sold it to the current owner. It was fairly original but we took the original ugly flares off and put on the correct fenders. It still retained the original very trick FI unit and I believe Traco built small block. It also came with a couple of sets of original minlite wheels, the set on the car and a 10inch set.
The current owner did a nice job restoring it to original but IMO will not get his asking price. Also, IMO Corvette race cars that are not an original L88 or have Daytona, Sebring, or LeMans History, never do well at auctions.

That car has been on the Auction tour for years now. It was sold at Russo & Steele around 2012 or 2013. In 2017 it was again up for auction in Indiana, were it was projected to bring $350,000, but it was supposedly a no sale at $275,000. Last March it was at Amelia Island, with a slightly more realistic projected sale price of $100,000 to $150,000, but apparently again was a no sale.
Bill Jobe had some success racing this car at the SCCA club level, and he later ran a handful of Trans-Am races in other Corvettes, but he was hardly the racing legend that some sellers of this car, have claimed he was. It's a nice car, with a good racing history, but the asking prices for it have been out of line, with what seems to be average for mid-years with similar racing history. There seems to be a lot of people out there trying to get $100,000 plus for road racing mid-years, but not many are getting it.

I would likely say that there was no real money on the car at 275K and it was just house bid up to that because if there was it should have sold, or the owner was just being silly.
Bill Jobe was not a major pro-racer by any sorts, but anyone who wins two SCCA BP National titles can definitely drive a race car. I can also tell you that the fuel injection unit on that car is pretty trick and built by Don Barker (5 Time SCCA National Champion Allen Barker's brother and Crew Chief) who was a wizard of a mechanic and heavily responsible for Allen's success as a driver.
But, yes Corvette race cars are a hard sell and anyone getting that much for a mid-year Corvette race car that does not have major history or that is built to win in vintage racing should take the money and run!
