Default C2 body lift height clearance?

With the car on its wheels, about how high does the C2 body need to be lifted with an engine hoist to get the body to clear the chassis being pulled to the side (can’t roll the chassis out with the engine hoist legs under the car)? I’m planning the strap/engine hoist method, and I’m wondering if my garage ceiling is tall enough.... Thanks.

The most important thing you can do to help with this, is to first pull the gas tank. It sits up high on the chassis and is definitely the biggest obstacle. The other big factor is the engine and if it is already removed? If you are dealing with height issues in your garage then pulling the engine first is another big help. After that I don't know the actual dimension but if you look at the dimension from the top of the rear chassis kickup to the base of the body wells behind the seats - and add 3 or 4 inches to that dimension for the springs unloading and a little extra clearance - you should have a good idea. You might be able to cheat on that a little by rolling the frame back slightly once the rear most frame body mounts are clear of the fender roll under. That can allow the body wells to clear in front of the kickups.

Plus, to add to Dan's comments you can gain room by using two rolling jacks (one front, one rear) removing the wheels and lower the frame down after you start lifting the body. When the body clears just roll the chassis out from under.

You need to lift it around 32-4" with the gas tank and engine installed depending on tires.

Also you have to watch the rear quarters carefully as the #4 frame brackets are wider that the body.
