Default 63 turn signal cancelling ringe

My metal turn signal cancelleing ring broke and hard to find another as they were only made that one year. Does anyone know if I can use one from another model year? The 64 one is made of plastic and looks different.

The '63 turn signal mechanism is unique, as you've noticed. No parts from any other year will interchange, AFAIK. 20 years ago there was a reproduction of the '63 cancelling ring. It was garbage. The metal was too soft and the ring would fail in short order. You might get lucky and find an NOS ring. A better solution, IMHO, would be to have a machine shop fabricate a functional replacement out of steel. Not cheap, but permanent.

Good luck.

Some claim to still have reproductions but I'd call first - and you won't like the price:

Before I'd spring for that part at that price, I'd want to know how it's constructed. If it's soft pot metal, I'd keep using hand signals before I'd buy it.

Once bitten.....

Ha! Most today wouldn't know a hand signal from someone flipping them the bird - could get you shot...

Its been a while (many years) since I've looked at mine, but seems I recall the originals are made of aluminum and if so, are probably subject to wear and breakage.

That being said, I wonder if it would be possible to aluminum weld your piece where its broken or otherwise repair/refurbish your ring by a good machine shop.

Just a thought.

Talked to machine shop. Seems its not really aluminum but a sort of pot metal and not weldable. I have aa line on one, like you said not cheap but I will bite the bullet. Thanks
