Corvettes at Gooding in Scottsdale
Let me say this post is in no way an ad for anything or anyone. Spent a couple days at Gooding among other places this week. Lot 123 , a 61 restored race car with big tank, fuel injection, big brakes with hardtop and documentation as well as being very well known was bid to$220K. No sale. Estimate was $275K to $350K. VIN 10867S106409. I do not know the owner although it is part of a large east coast collection. Interesting that it spent much of its early life in central IL in Champaign-Urbana area during the time I was there. Anyway, great looking car in White with red interior.
Second was Lot 144 a 66 with a 427 with advertised 450 hp. I was not aware of a 450hp version of the 427 in any Chevrolet. It appeared to be a single Holley four barrel carb equipped engine. Had a sticker on the air cleaner top claiming 427/450hp. An early L72 is what the description reads in the catalog. Does that sound right? I love C2s but know precious little about them! VIN on this one is 194676S102228. I am sorry I have no pics.

Early 66s were advertised as 450 hp but later rerated to 425 hp.
