Another what is it worth thread

Hi jv04 - For mine, my focus in determining price would be ' who would want these "parts" - that's your potential market, and I'd pitch price to market demand, taking in to consideration the as is condition of these parts; (others are quoting retail values-which is stupid) - what you have is a half body shell that may appeal to someone who has a body in need of major repairs; the doors, steering column, Vin Tag, and Title are a bonus - my guestimate for a fair price would range between $1,000 - $1,500 - Best Regards GV
The person interested in the car does not want a chassis, just the body with the VIN tag. He runs a local restoration shop and he wants to resto-mod this. This same guy bought a 58 from the widow many years ago that was in about the same condition as this 62. He turned it into a $175K resto-mod for a customer about 5 years ago.
The car has a steering column with a valid VIN tag and all of the appropriate paperwork to get it titled in any other state.
The deal does NOT include the hardtop, but does have a complete set of doors, a trunk lid, some additional exterior trim (bumpers, etc.), restorable seats.
Now I need to go talk to the widow and see where she wants to go with this.

I would stick to the 5K and let the guy make an offer if he doesn't like it. He knows what it is and obviously can use it. The widow can either accept or reject if he counters and I am sure he will. Don't give this away because some think it is worthless. Good Luck to you and your widow friend! By the way, look at the great looking car jimh 1962 has-thank goodness someone didn't haul his to the junk yard!

OK, this is the next contestant on "What is it worth, what will the owner sell it for".
The potential buyer has already bought a 58 Corvette from the owner. He turned that car into a $175K resto-mod for a customer. (see attached pictures) He runs a local restoration shop.
He wants this body for personal use. He does not want a chassis, or either a soft or hard top (he already has a soft top).
I checked on the parts availability for this body, and here is what comes with the car:
1. The body as you can see in the pictures.
2. A good trunk lid
3. A good pair of doors (bare, no glass or hardware)
4. An instrument cluster (already in the car)
5. A rough hood (with a hole cut in it)
6. A pair of upper and lower seat cushions (no seat frames or seat tracks)
7. The correct steering column for this car, with a VIN tag still attached.
8. A rear license plate chrome surround (needs re-plating)
9. A used set of tail light assemblies
10. Windshield and windshield frame
I "may" be able to locate the door glass, and possibly a set of door chrome. Every time I look for parts I find something else I did not realize was there.
My feeling is that the price on this is $4K.
Here is the start and end of a 58 that this guy bought from the widow a few years ago.
This is the 58 he started with. It was an original FI car. The frame was completely rusted through in multiple places.
This is what he turned it into. Streetshops chassis..
LS drive train
and wheels that look like the original hubcaps.
Not bad, considering what he started with.
The interior is just as nice.

Hi jv04 - Considering you're starting with 10% of a "car" with a "potential" value of $175k - why not set the base price at $17.5k - GV

$175k resto-mod,and how much money/labor did he invest in it to get there?

Apparently it was not clear, so let me say it again....
I am recommending to the widow that the price be set at $4000 for the 1962 body with the parts as described above.
The widow has agreed to my valuation of the car at $4000. I have passed the word to the person with first right of refusal.
He is thinking about it. I told him there is no rush, take his time.
