I've posted that same article several times - nobody knows how many cars suffered this indignity...
I've heard from a few dozen to hundreds...

I've got the sawzall and the airplane ticket. I'll see you on Saturday, Frank. BYOBW (Bring Your Own Back Window)!! You supply the paint and the small batch bourbon and Havana's for the after-party!

Hard to imagine today, but this mod was not an indignity in the 60s and early 70s, but a popular way to improve rearward visibility and update the looks. Lots of those in SoCal back then. Not a bad way to go, really.

I’ll say it’s a very, very bad way to go.

I think they make a split “patch” now to fix it back. But the window stainless and interior trim will break the bank.

I would think that the conversation could be and has been reversed on a good number of these cars

Has anyone seen a 63 with the split removed?

What do you figure the deduction is for a split delete these days?

I knew a guy who claimed to have one( a project car), we always thought he wanted to fake his 64 into a swc. Back then i didn't know how to tell 64 63 apart.

My dog didn’t like it when I did that to him. I can’t imagine Frankie’s Corvette would enjoy it.

These days, with a rear camera and a video mirror, the split wouldn't be so bad...now if we could just get some ventilation into that thing...

A zillion dollars if you want real trim + labor cost + I’ll throw in the glass for free.

I think Frankie has some, too.

I just don’t have a problem seeing out but I’m sure it’s easier with all glass.

Air is a different topic.

I never understood the fascination with the split window coupe.

Is it because of it being one year only hence rarity or do owners really prefer the look?
