Default Conversion of 64 mechanical tach to electronic tach

I am looking for information on how to convert the mechanical tach on my 64 coupe to an electronic tach. Most of the conversion kits I have reviewed have not been shown to work with the 1963 and 1964 C2's. Does anyone have any suggestions.

Thanks

Send it to Corvette Clocks by Roger. He did my 63. No problems.

Yes, the vendor kits usually have a 63/64 disclaimer because of the cone shaped center section of the gauges on the early midyears...

Thank you for your reply. The only kit that I could find that included 63-64 was from Wilson Corvette and that required additional modifications that I could not find any information about.

Do it yourself. I have done this conversion on a '62 tachometer and it is not that difficult. I realize that the '64 tach is a different animal, but looking at some of the pictures on the internet, it does not appear to be impossible. The hardest part may be finding an electronic tach that has the same "swing" as the '64.

I did my 63 with the kit that all the venders sell you have to space out the mounting because of the cone, used the factory needle everything works. It is very close to the Z bar but not a problem. The needle only sits at zero with the key on and engine off just the way its made.
