Default 67 - power steering bracket source

I had a strange engine noise gradually develop in my '67 that was very difficult to trace. It was more of a low grade "thunk, thunk, thunk" which varied according to engine speed.

The noise would more or less disappear whenever the car was above idle. I thought it could be a maladjusted lifter, or possibly the fuel pump. But I could not find the noise when using an automotive stethoscope.

This week, while changing the oil, I noticed that 1 of the 3 power steering pump bracket bolts had simply disappeared - walked away! The pump and bracket were held on by one not-too tight bolt, and the third bolt was in place but the boss around it was cracked, so it wasn't firmly holding onto much. As soon as I replaced the missing bolt and tightened the other good one, the mystery noise went away! I'm happy to have got rid of the noise, but now need to find a replacement power steering bracket.

My car has a 300hp 327, with factory power steering.

Two questions:
  1. Am I in any danger driving the car with only two 'good' bolts holding the power steering pump bracket to the engine?
  2. Where do I get a good used bracket to replace my cracked one? Is this a standard Chevy small block part, or do I need to look for something Corvette specific. A quick look in Paragon and Eckler's catalogs turns up nothing when I look for a PS bracket.
Thanks for your help,
-Alex

You might call Bair's. I took a real quick look at their catalog and didn't see it but they might be able to come up with one for you.

Post a picture of which one you need. I probably have several of them in my stash of parts

Thanks guys for your suggestions on where to find a P/S bracket.

Long Island Corvette Parts (LICS) has the bracket for $25. Eckler's sells a kit with both brackets for $48. As I only need one bracket I'll get it from LICS.

Cheers,
