Default Center console paint 1966

Is there a particular SEM brand paint good for this? I've used SEM on other applications and I like the quality and results. Another paint better? Thank you.

I'll just say that I use the Corvette America interior sprays and have been well satisfied. The color is dead nuts on and they lay down nicely in two light coats....it doesn't fill in the grain and is as durable as it gets...

What finish is the black? Semi-gloss, yes?

Good choice but be careful with the lacquer it'll lift any enamel that's on there now. Best to strip it to bare metal before you paint to be sure. $.02 deposited.

I cannot locate Kylon 1613 industrial lacquer on the Krylon website, or anywhere for that matter. Might there be a revised part number or equivalent?

These folks have it in semi-flat:

I don't recall a 1613 semi-gloss, but I've never looked for it.

I see semi-flat, and satin- not semi GLOSS. Is it just me?

I'm pretty sure semi flat and satin are not the same as semi gloss, right?

Or are they?

BTW- Thank you for your input

You don't want semi-GLOSS - you want semi-FLAT, which is the only way Krylon black #1613 has ever been formulated until they changed it from lacquer to enamel a few years ago. Now you want INDUSTRIAL 5-BALL Semi-Flat, which is lacquer-based, just like the original we all grew up with. All the industrial supply houses stock it - you won't find it at hardware and the big-box stores - they only carry the non-5-ball ENAMEL version.

I agree, don't listen to the "semi'gloss" posts. I got exactly what John shows through Travers Tool Co, but other similar vendors have it as well.

You won't get "exactly" what JohnZ shows in the picture anymore unless you find some really old stock....
The new Krylon spray can "look" is in the link in post #9, so don't be put off if it doesn't look like the older can...its the same stuff.
