Get a little shorter belt then your gen. will sit higher and maybe not rub looks like you have a little travel.

He's already said he can't because the generator hits the exhaust manifold when he tries to adjust it. As I showed in my pictures the generator should be nowhere near that close to the exhaust or the engine

Jack, I believe you'll find the adjusting brace should be on the back side of the ear.

I have a very early 60 and I looked up some 60 pictures and they have the bracket in front like mine. Maybe the 59 is different, but I thought they were the same. This is a different car, not mine, pictured with the bracket in front. It looks like putting it behind would cover the oil inlet and also cause the generator to rub at an angle as it was adjusted. Apparently there are two possible ways, I don't know if it's a different bracket or not, but I think I'll leave mine alone.

I flipped the plate like in #58 but then the pulleys didn’t line up anymore. I am going to turn the tach unit as you suggested earlier. I also tried the adjusting bracket on both side since there seems to be two thoughts on that. Unfortunately everyone in my house is now sick so we haven’t been out there. This is just not my week. I will take some more pics. Thanks for all the input and patience.

Just took one more picture from the other side so you can see the mount. you probably got the idea by now but if you don't move that generator forward you're going to hit the hose like you're doing.
