C1 installation of JM IRS without pulling the body????
Is it possible to install the Jim Myers 4 link IRS in a 1962 without removing the body? Looking at photos it appears it might be. Has anyone done it this way?
What do owners of this set-up think of the ride and handling with the JM 4 link?

Okay, apparently this has never been done without removing the body. So, could anyone chime in who has this 4 link setup on their C1 and comment on how they like it?

Looks like some tricky welding to do upside down right next to the fiberglass underbody.

Yeah, that's my concern as well. I would have it done professionally, but if it requires a body lift then its game over. I might still call JM and see what they say, but honestly, regardless of what JM says, it's the installing shop where the answer needs to come from.

62 cruiser,
I had the Jim Meyers put under my car with no body lift , btw it is not an irs system but a 4 link . Any reputable welder can weld it up there are only a few spots needed. Go to their website and get an installation guide and that may help your thought process. My local shop removed the old rear and installed the new one , he did a fine job and took him a couple of days. Used the same drive shaft also. Hope this helps you out. I also have the Meyers front end on mine and it makes a world of difference.

Did you get your hands on a JM 4 link setup ??? I have called em twice to order and e-mailed and got nowhere. I decided to build my own. If you have one , then yes I think it could be done body on. Good luck.

Thanks Fatboy, that sounds very promising. I'll download it and discuss with the shop who would be doing the install.
Pop Chevy. I just committed yesterday to buy a new car that I want to do this mod on. So, no, I haven't tried to contact JM.

This will give you an idea, I took my car down to bare frame and back up.....I tacked everything in place and then took it to a friends fabricating business where they have real welders.

Thank you for the wonderful photos. This certainly makes me question my idea of doing this without removing the body, which I won't do. Maybe it's possible but it won't be easy.

I got in touch with Martz Chassis they will get my business and told me 2-3 weeks I can pick it up. I live pretty close. On their website they show 2 installs with the body on. I like their design better too.
