Very funny but unfortunately reality can be very sobering.

You're unfortunately 100% correct. Being in the Navy, the majority of my coworkers are under the age of 30. My 2016 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro gets far more attention in the parking lot than either my '64 Corvette or '72 C20 Suburban. One of the young females that works for me called my Suburban "cute" a few months back

We're already there, car commercials tell it all.... They hype up some econobox that looks like a rolling microwave oven and have it skidding sideways on water to make it look sexy then a shot of it driving down a city street and everybody stops dead in their tracks and go ga-ga over the thing.
How many common cars designed now would you say can really inspire those reactions ?
Maybe the Jaguar F-type and its not all that common....certainly not the Corollas and Kias...

Drifting
I have a few young kids from the neighborhood (several older) keeping track of my progress on the 59. I was shocked when one 14 year old stopped and asked if he could see my 59. Proves there are still a few kids with an interest.
But when the schools think ALL kids should go to college, there’s no money left for shop classes that might inspire them. I took wood, metal, and auto shop all 4 years, and obtained a 4-year degree. It’s sad the kids today are not being fully prepared for life...

Some really funny comics there that spark a few more serious thoughts from me.
1. I think most of these SUV’s will be largely forgotten because they aren’t being bought by car people as special sport vehicle. They’re buying them for the level of usefulness. I think they’re mostly viewed as today’s station wagon. A few might turn a head in a decade or two (I do think an Isuzu VehiCROSS would be cool to tuck away in a collection), but I think they’re largely used and pitched.
2. I think there’s a healthy interest in fun, sporty cars these days, but they tend to be the Japanese sports cars. I can’t tell you how many 30 and 40 somethings in my life are really excited for the return of the Supra.
3. I think the Corvette has spent the last 20ish years in an awkward category all to itself. I feel like it was too sporty to appeal to the retro muscle crowd, and not exotic supercar enough in image to appeal to the foreign supercar crowd. I think the high end Japanese sports car really ate into the cool factor of Corvettes (and no knock on those Japanese sports cars. They’ve made some pretty slick cars)...
That’s just my opinion, of course. I found the C4, C5, and C6 eras a bit underwhelming. The C7, for me, is where Corvettes have really started to quicken my pulse again when I see one on the road.

The newer Mustangs are the truest and I think lightest of the three (Camaro and Challenger) but they are all a dime a dozen.
If I could afford one I would buy a new GT 40---you would likely never meet yourself driving down the street in that.

I've always said that the Mustang is the most power bang for the buck - but I just wanted another 2-seater....
And yeah, the T-Bird is a girl car so I drive it with my legs crossed...
But, like my split window I enjoy having something different than every other dweeb on the road...

Wait . . . I just had a mental image of that and have to leave the room for a bit to get my mind on something else.
