Ha Ha I like it. Kind of like a mini Corvette. I'm not a purist so I like those efforts to try something different. I guess you could call my Hemi//Vette as something different.

I have 2 C2's and a 2000 MX 5R Miata. For the pure fun of driving, the Miata is my favorite. The R model has the upgraded suspension package and you can not drive that car without smiling. As for the C2 inspired Miata, it is not as bad as some others that I have seen. That said, it is still Bad in so many ways.

Remember the Opel GT? Kind of like a combination of a Porsche and a C3 that somebody washed and it shrunk. Great styled cars needing improvement in power train.

Why do people spend so much time trying to build kinda sorta fake C2s out of C5s, K cars and now Miatas?

I don't think it looks all that bad. If the steering wheel was on the other side and it was about half price I'd think about it.
