Correct engine color 1954
Attached is a photo of my engine color. It seems darker than what I have seen on other cars, but I have also read a lot of debate on this issue and I know that color looks different in different light. Is mine the correct color or should it be lighter? The other blue seems more of a light blue to my eye. Second question, is whether anyone knows if this paint on ebay is the correct blue for a 1954 Corvette, as he claims it to be? https://www.ebay.com/itm/1941-61-Che...item2f2b31e72d. I've also attached a photo of the cans he is selling. Thanks.

There is alot of debate about the color.
Question - are you getting the car judged?
The 53 color is more green IMO
the 54 color is more blue again IMO
I shoot my Blue Flames with a 2k - resists fuel and easy to clean - vs an un catalyzed rattle can product
Mine is too shiny vs production - but I wanted it to stand tall
Your motor was resprayed in the car.....there is overspray
The ebay photos look close

Thanks. I am not going to have the car judged, but I could tell that the paint on my engine was a quickie job so if/when I redo, I want to make it right. Also, if I have to pull it for any reason, I will respray it. What color and brand do you use?

I remember standing next to a '53 owner at an NCRS national convention in San Jose a few years ago and observing that the color of the engines varied noticeably between the different 1953s. He said that, given the passage of time and faded paint chips and memories, there were just too many variables to get it right with modern paint any more. My friend's name was Noland Adams and we had a good laugh about it. If HE wasn't able to replicate the original color, no one else was ever going to do it. Do the best you can.
