Factory valve covers for 327-300hp
Can anyone post a photo of a factory valve cover for a 67' 327-300hp ???
Finally starting to resurrect my 67' ,its been stored for about 30 years.
Just finished my sons 66 super sport and putting a rebuilt engine and PG
in my ex's 57. I am hoping to get the Vette back on the road this summer.
Got to thinking about the valve covers as I removed them for new gaskets.
Thanks for any help

One thing to watch out for is that there was an earlier steel valve cover that looks very similar to the '67 steel valve cover.
The main difference is that the ends of the '67 valve cover have a slight slope to them, while the ends of the earlier valve cover are almost vertical.
I'll try to post a photo tomorrow unless someone else posts one first.

Here's a photo that shows the 10-degree slant on both ends of the 1967-only valve cover.

Why did they change the slant of the valve cover ends for 67? Seems like a small but expensive thing to do, so there must have been a good reason.

Attached is a photo that helps to clarify the end slant on the '67 steel valve cover. I taped a flat piece of steel to the slanted end so that you can see where it intersects the tape measure.
I don't know the vintage of the earlier version that has ends that are almost vertical, but I have seen it on some C1 Corvettes. To the casual observer, both styles look identical, but if you put them side-by-side, the difference is obvious. I once saw a C1 ready for delivery from a high end restoration shop, and I noticed that the engine had an early style valve cover on one head, and a '67 style valve cover on the other head. No one had noticed this until I pointed it out.
Regarding the question of why GM made this change, I suspect it was an effort to update the style a bit to make it appear more "modern."

I checked my cars engine and they are the correct covers.
Also checked the 66 SS I just finished and it has the same problem as above.
One of each style. But,thats a project for next fall.
