1953-55 Early Mid Late production
As I read through the NCRS Guide and the Nolan Adams book, they each reference early mid and late 1954 changes. I don't see where they ever define approximately what each of those periods pertain to. My car appears to have been built sometime between May 27, 1954 (internet website) or as late as July 26th, as per Chris Sherman's analysis, which if I use Chris' date I would think puts me in mid to late, but I don't know which. I am trying to source hose clamps and it seems I am somewhere between a split band or a corbin clamp. The corbin are readily available, and the split band are more difficult to find, but seem available. Before I buy them, I'd like to try and figure out which is correct. Thanks.

this is one of my FAVORITE discussions !!!!
There are SOOOOO many production changes in 53 and into 54 and mid 54......
I created a power point and did a presentation to the local Corvette club - I took Vette Daddys presentation and added to it
I will try to list some
- 53 bodies and into 54 were hand laid cloth - a layer of cloth, layer of mat and a layer of cloth - check for cloth panels
- Check the upper dash in the engine compartment - cloth or pressmolded?
- Check the wiper drum hole - square cut with a jig saw or hole saw - early vs late
- Check the holes in the trans tunnel - large oval hole or three hole saw holes
- Check the water fall - square cut or hole saw - early vs late
- Check the trunk lid - the latch reinforcement - rivets are different on early and late trunk lids
-
- Check the body mounts behind the seats - enclosed or open? - early vs late
- Check the doors - square cut holes or round hole saw - early vs late
- Check the trunk lid - dessicent box - square holes or round hole saw - early vs late
- Check the conv top lid hinge openings - widely open or cut tightly to the hinge - early vs late
- Conv top - flipper moldings vs non (body change) - early vs late

54C1 has the 2nd design molding.
Mine is #3299. It has the flipper molding, broken but there nonetheless . Was there a mix at this point in production?
