We're conditioned here to have doubts about stories like these. I think we should wait to see what happens next keeping in mind we may have already scared her away. If the story is as stated she now may be worried about can she trust anybody with this car because of the potential value. Or it's not "real" and these old SOBs saw right through this.
Anxiously waiting to see where this one goes...……….

The, ".....why couldn't this happen to me" crowd... So they're hoping its a BS story...
In my case, such stories, when real, come under the heading of, "....sh*t that will never happen to Frank"

Well - it MIGHT not exist at all, or it MIGHT be a 63 that is 1/1024th Z06...
Like some Presidential candidates are native-American...
We may never know....

I managed to get in touch with her by PM. Good thing, too, as she didn’t know the braking system was dangerous when used on the street. I went right over and helped her nephew, Zoroaster, take it off and put on some nice, safe discs. Also got that fiberglass tank out of there, so the ethanol wouldn’t eat it and cause a fire. She managed to dump that crap off at the landfill. Wheeeewww

Not sure exactly where in IL you are, but I’m in the near west suburbs of Chicago. I’m not a Z06 or tanker expert, but I do have quite a bit of experience with 63s and 67s. Would be very willing to put eyes on it and help assess what you have, perhaps provide some insight on how to proceed. No ulterior motives from me, my plate is full and I have no interest in buying any more at this point.

Chances are she is so busy with her new “friends”, each thinking they are unique in their ability to charm her out of her ultra rare vehicle, completely unaware they are one of many who has made it to the next level of the exclusive charade, she has no time or desire to respond.

Oh, I wouldn’t be so sure.

That KRISSY is a real sweetheart. Why, she's offered me the opportunity to purchase that Z06 for a fair price ($220K) without really knowing if I'm some sort of scam artist or not. AlI I have to do is send her a deposit of $15,000 by Western Union today, then meet her tomorrow night in front of the police station in Hammond, Indiana at 10:30, with the rest of the cash. I can hardly wait to get my hands on that Z06. What luck!!!!

Her phone number has some sort of second area code "252" for security, she tells me. Sounds like a pretty safe deal, if she's gone to all that effort...

Krissi, Not to be someone trying to fill you with paranoia but there is good reason to be ultra particular about who you choose to work on your car. As you are already aware, you have an extremely rare car. There are a multitude of shops who would find nothing wrong with “loosing” your original parts. A person who is not hands on and doesn’t know these cars would be a huge mistake. Choosing a person to work on the car that isn’t honest is even worse. I believe you would be well served to be present to chronicle and photograph everything. Last item, don’t pay too much in advance. Keeping the money proportionate to the work is just good business.
My gut would be to pay attention to Nowhere Man’s suggestions. Keith seems very knowledgeable.
