Default Ride of shame for the C8 prototype

What? No flatbeds available in Michigan??

https://www.autoblog.com/amp/2019/03...s-broken-down/

The C8 is also having problems with flexing of the aluminum frame causing the glass engine cover to break.

Hmmmmm.my 63 has never broken down at a gas station on me. In fact, its never broken down anywhere!

Anyway, having done more IT product "rollouts" than I care to remember - this is why you prototype....to find issues so the customer doesn't...

Well, rapid prototyping and the agile approach of “minimally viable product” have shifted some of this to the user. Apparently, the new overly expensive Corvette is applying this concept.

My ‘67 wouldn’t start after stopping at a restaurant to eat. It was just a loose battery cable. I assume this C8’s problem was more complicated.

In part from what I read, too much hp for the frame to handle, thus the flexing.

that’s what I’ve read as well. Too much hp and torque. I wonder what the cure will be. I think their target date to hit the market is this summer.

Every time I hear a new IT development philosophy its a rehash of something from decades ago with a different name and face....
I was doing RAD/JAD in the early '90s - and a focus group of customers testing product isn't the entire customer base...

And now its SCRUM TEAM development - a chance for a whole new crop of vendors to push a faux IT technique down your throat for big money...

The equivalent here would be a test group driving the C8 Corvette and you HOPE they find any issues prior to pilot or production...

Frankie, same in my line of work (management consulting). Most “new” ideas are rehashed versions of something the gurus of the 50’s and 60’s developed. They give it a different name and claim it as their own.

I hope they truly fix this issue with the C8. I love test driving new Corvettes. While I wouldn’t buy one, pulling up in one of my old ones always causes some dealer mouth foaming at the prospect that I will and will leave the old one behind as a trade in. Never happen!

I'm sure Chevy will get the C8 straightened out, personally it would take one helluva lot to win me over to a rear engine Corvette...

Yea I saw the pics of that. Not too worried. I would rather they work the bugs out now, and I'm confident they will. I will be buying the 2nd year higher horsepower version so I can try twisting the frame

I'd bet she was getting the tarp out of the trunk, not trying to fix the problem.

and as far as females, one should take a look at the GM Tech Center in Warren, there are a lot females employed there in technical areas.

Given that they are having electrical issues, she probably knew the area she should be looking at. No one has said they have been having engine issues.....

Time has proven, it is wise to never buy the first year of a new production vehicle. Al W.

Not even going to look at the C8. I'm sure it's base suspension & tire package will be so stiff it will rattle my teeth on normal roads. But I'll bet it will be a terror on the track.

As far as the IT management in the car, well good luck with that. Always wanted to surf the internet while on a race track.

A 1/2 hour to observe, and that is best spy photos they could get????

It is tough to introduce an entirely new platform. There will be many changes during and after the first year. Ask anyone that has a 63, 68 or 84 Corvette. I think the mid-engine car is going to be a game changer for the Vette. The handling will be superb. Time will tell. Jerry

I think she's decided it needs hood blocks...

Tow trips can be rough on body flex.
