Default Rusty Water in expansion tank

Hi folks, I drained my radiator a couple of years ago and now I notice the antifreeze has kind of a rusty oily film on top. Checked the oil and no water in th oil. Never noticed it until I changed the antifreeze. The is a stock L-79 motor . Should I drain it again and refill it, if so what antifreeze would you recommend. Thanks for any suggestions. Gary

Did you flush the system the first time? If not, the rust scale may be getting circulated and you have a rusty tank. Zerez GO5 is the go to antifreeze. Dennis

Hi Dennis, no I didn’t flush it I just drained the radiator and filled it back with some generic brand. I’ll drain it again and use the coolant you recommended. Thanks for getting back to me.

Make sure you open the drain plugs on each side of the block. When you get them out, they might be plugged with debris. If so, poke them with a suitable object to remove the blockage. Remove the thermostate, then take a hose and run it through the block and the rad. For future cooling service, purchase 3 drain pet *****, two for the block, one for the rad. These make drawing the system very easy in the future. :The ZEREX is G-05 cheers: Dennis
