Don't know the thickness, but I used the stock replacement glass channel tape from one of the regular suppliers. Its rubber. Worked well.

I just did this on my hardtop side window. I went to my local automobile windshield glass place and asked them. They gave me lengths of tape. For free. It seems that this tape is pretty cheap. There's thick tape and thin tape. I believe it's usually too wide. Which is a good thing. Install the (plexi)glass in the tape in the channel. The excess tape can then be trimmed with a utility cutting knife tool. Yes, that tool will score the plexiglass, so be careful. If you use the channel to guide your cut, the scoring of the plexiglass will not show.
